Ministry of Internal Affairs Seminar on ventilation and lead poisoning – September 5, 2014

At the beginning of September, a meeting of Ministry of Internal Affairs sanitary inspectors took place. We had the opportunity to present our ventilation solutions and type TCT bullet traps (total containment traps). The presented technologies provide adequate working conditions for shooting instructors. The main problem encountered on a shooting range is not, as commonly believed, the ricochet threat. It is in fact lead poisoning. Because of poor ventilation and inadequate range maintenance the lead level in the blood of the instructors can reach very high levels. Lead poisoning is underestimated, but in the long run it can lead to many diseases, such as infertility, blurred vision or liver and kidney damage. It is also very important to provide staff training instructing the workers how to behave during and after shooting.
